What is ebb-and-flow system?
Ebb-and-flow system also belongs to a water-saving
irrigation system, which is designed based on the principle of tidal fluctuation.
Ebb-and-flow system including its
irrigation pipes is usually suitable for the planting and management of various potted plants. It can effectively improve the utilization efficiency of water resources and nutrient solution for potted crops. What is the working mode of
ebb-and-flow system? and what are the characteristics? Let's explain it for you.
Ebb-and-flow system can be divided into two types: surface irrigation and planting bed irrigation. The surface type of
ebb-and-flow system is to build a water storage seedling tray tank on the surface, in which a number of outlet and return holes are distributed. The planting bed type of
ebb-and-flow system is to build a large area of water storage seedling tray on the seedling bed, and reserve water outlet and backwater holes on the seedling tray.
In the application,
the irrigation water or nutrient solution with good proportion overflows from the outlet hole, so that the water level in the whole seedbed rises slowly and reaches the appropriate level height (called rising tide). The cultivation bed is submerged to a depth of 2 ~ 3cm. After a certain period of time (fully absorbed by crop roots), the nutrient solution rises to the surface of the medium in the basin due to capillary action. At this time, open the backwater port to discharge the nutrient solution and return it to the nutrient solution pool (called ebb tide). The nutrient solution will be sent out when the other cultivation bed needs water.
Ebb-and-flow system has the equipment to adjust the PH of nutrient solution and the concentration of various nutrients, so as to avoid excessive turbidity of nutrient solution and increase the filtration system and disinfection system of medium. The special cultivation bed with high frame must be used in the
ebb-and-flow system of planting bed, so the corresponding equipment cost is also high.
Ebb-and-flow system system has the following characteristics:
① Water saving and high efficiency. Completely closed system circulation. It can achieve 90% utilization rate;
② The growth rate of plants is faster, and the seedling age per week can be LD earlier than that of traditional seedling raising methods, and the utilization rate of facilities is improved;
③ It can avoid water film on the leaf surface, make the leaf accept more light for photosynthesis, and promote the transpiration force to absorb more nutrients from the root;
④ Stable water vapor content in the root medium can prevent capillary roots from dying due to drought near the edge and bottom of the container;
⑤ The relative humidity is easy to control, keep the leaf surface dry and reduce the use of chemical drugs;
⑥ There are no weeds growing under the planting bed, which reduces the growth of fungi because it is very dry under the planting bed.
Ebb-and-flow system is a mature
agricultural irrigation technology, which has been widely used in developed countries. It has solved the contradiction between
irrigation and oxygen supply, and
irrigation does not damage the "three-phase" composition of matrix. It is a high-efficiency and high-energy agricultural technology, and is in the development stage of extensive utilization in China.
